Sailing in the Chesapeake

We just got back from an amazing trip - a long weekend sailing on the Chesapeake Bay! After several preparatory courses, this was our first attempt at chartering a boat by ourselves, living aboard, and navigating to and from a destination. We got the 40 foot catamaran (named June Bug) in Annapolis and sailed to Saint Michaels, Maryland for our friends Cindy and Andrew's wedding. Lawson was amazing - up for any adventure his parents take him on. He got a little seasick the first day, as anyone would during a nap down below while at sail. But he wore his life jacket like a champion, sat in his high chair seat while we were underway working the sails, and happily went down to his bedroom for a nap when it was time to dock. He learned plenty of new words as well, such as "ice," "moon," "boat," "door" and "uh oh." We are very proud parents because he goes anywhere and does everything with us - it is nice to see such trust in such a small person.
